Description
Our client is a growing software development and consulting company, they are seeking an innovative Java Developer, who is able to work both independently and part of their dynamic team - all of who enjoy the perks of flexi-time, relaxed dress code and an endless supply of coffee!

Their primary focus is on the development, implementation and management of their custom developed billing, customer relationship management (CRM) and financial suite of software. They also specialize in custom development and consulting on business system integration including large-scale system migrations, which affords the team great exposure to a host of different APIs and applications with which to interface.

Position description
• Design and develop Java web applications using cutting edge technologies for Object Relational Mapping, Caching and Service Orientated Architecture implementations.
• Learn about implementing scalable, robust, maintainable software using design patterns and Object Orientated principals.
• Work with experienced Software Engineers on exciting projects in the Telecommunications, ISP and integration arena and grow your skills at exponential rate
Skills Required
• At least 18 months experience programming in Java.
• At least 18 months experience with JSPs, HTML and JavaScript.
• Solid understanding of the Java programming language and syntax
• Experience with Object Relational Mapping (e.g. Hibernate, JDO, Toplink, EJB3)
• Experience with Java Servlets containers (e.g. Tomcat, Jetty, Resin or Orion).
• Experience with Java IDEs such as Eclipse and/or Netbeans.
• Experience with SQL and RDBMS database concepts and design
• Practical experience with any of following databases: Oracle, MySql or MS SQL.
• Valid South African driver’s license
• Good English writing and communication skills.
• Must be willing and able to learn new technologies
• Excellent technical skills and a hunger to learn more
• A good understanding of broad business processes and principles
• Excellent communication skills & good interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Good understanding of version control and the software development lifecycle in a team environment (Advantage)
• Exposure to Unix (Linux / FreeBSD / Solaris) (Advantage)
• Good understanding of Internet and LAN/WAN technologies (Advantage)
